"throwback thursday"? "the old disney"? The fuck? You don’t know "the old disney" unless you remember trying not to die of boredom trying to get through Pennsylvania Wildlife just to watch the Disney movie (that you probably already have on VHS, but that doesn’t matter because it is on TV) every Sunday. While fighting with your dad because he wants to watch Xena: Warrior Princess, but you know if you let him it is game over and you will not be able to watch the Disney movie.

This quote speaks to me, because as a teacher of secondary school, the amount of times 14, 15 and even 16 year olds ask me to ‘do the voices’ or say that their parents never read to them breaks my heart
When I taught a course on SFF criticism at the U of MN, I learned that none of my students had read Tolkien, beyond the essays of his I assigned them. So I read them The Hobbit. A chapter a day, at the beginning of class. It was one of the best things I’ve ever done as a teacher.
I love to read aloud and do all the voices!
